My good friends Jimmie and Wendy are getting married this fall. They asked if I could do their save the date cards. Jimmie is an even bigger nerd than I am and requested I emulate the cover to All Star Superman #3 by the amazing Frank Quietely. While this pales in comparison to the original I am still happy with the result.

So I have been hooked on these books recently. The world is so rich. Some of the best characters I have read in any book. Martin has a way of making me feel for characters that I originally hated. The chapters cycle through characters point of views. Usually with that style of writing there are always chapters that I have to trudge through because they just don't interest me as much as the others. That was the case early on but by now (I'm over half way through book 3) there is not a single character that I feel that way about. Out of all the characters it's the Lannisters that interest me the most. I love to hate them, except for Tyrion, he is just awesome. I am also working on a pic of King Robert on the iron throne. I have been working on these pretty much when it's slow at work or while watching Dora with the kiddo.

Man I can't wait for the HBO series...

I am taking an illustration for children's books course at MassArt. This was my first assignment. I am having a blast so far, maybe I have found my calling? We shall see I guess. This is titled "Polka-dotted platypus playing poker with portly pirates." This is watercolor and ink with white colored pencil.

I can see why they rejected it. Hindsight is always 20/20 right? Story was a convoluted mess and the panel work was amateur at best. Anyway you live and you learn. I learned a lot doing this, primarily NOT to do everything yourself!

Been too long since I updated last. Have some things I can not post just yet but in the meantime I did these as christmas presents this year. All photoshop with my wacom. Outdoor scene was for my mom. She has been bugging me to paint her a picture of Savannah for 12 years now. The dogs were for my sister in law, her babies. The last is my wife and daughter, for my wife.

So had an idea the other day of someone who I thought would have played a great Wolverine. Not that Hugh jackman is doing a bad job I think he is great. I just remember Wolverine being shorter and not a pretty boy. Not everyone agreed with me... one of which name rhymes with Bulian Fytle lol. I loosely based the drawing off of this actor, maybe I was way off but meh it's just a sketch.

Finally finished this thing. Sean (his link is on the right) is working on a project called panda force and I told him I would draw something up with Elyse. I started this ooooh say 2 months ago and just now finished inking it. That is pretty much par for the course as far as casual drawings go for me unfortunately... trying to get better though. I am doing another image right now featuring my awesomely great daughter that should be going up soon.

Yet another character design for Eric. This is the bad guy he described to me and by describe I mean he told me he was made of flies. I am not entirely happy with the result so I will probably do a few more variations. For now though he is pretty white for a fly guy. /quits his day job.

This is a character design for a friend of mine who is working on a novel. He gave me a basic idea of what he wanted but not too detailed. This idea jumped into my head as he was talking and I had to put it to paper while it was still fresh. Still waiting on the detailed descriptions to see how close I actually got.

This is a fairly old drawing but it is one of my favorites. These are characters from one of the final fantasy games. The idea is that the ninja has the ability to create shadow images which take damage for him. I never was able to really understand the idea of a shadow fooling an attacker. I saw it more as an illusion or smoke screen. So this is my take on it.

So anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge Jeff Buckley fan. I was first introduced to his music way back in 1998. For those who are not familiar, Jeff died May 29, 1997. Music suffered a horrible blow that day and this is my humble attempt at honoring an artist the only way I know how.

I was watching a video online about killer squids. Very interesting creatures; they move in packs and coordinate their attacks with each other. That has very little to do with this drawing, but it was at least the basis for my inspiration.

So this is the first completed sketch for me in a loooong time. Just came off of a long stretch of artist block. Trying to test my skills in character design by just putting my brain on shuffle and letting it go. I cleverly named this "Robogoblin."
